Worthy causes receiving thier cheques after the 2007-08 Final Tie
Collycroft Goose V Sunnyside
The Sunnyside Court Sheltered Accomodation
and The Poplars Sheltered Accomodation
each received £650.00
A record year,
£1300.00 was raised
The competition was founded in 1968 as The Pheasant Cup, its principle aim was to raise money for local worthy causes this principle remains the same today. In the early years it was the object of the Committee to provide equipment for the recipients rather than give money. One year we instructed our local sportshop Manager to kit out a handicapped childrens swimming club with matching swimwear and caps, it took a lot of doing as the swimwear had to be practically made to measure but he got there in the end, we also provided safety helmets for the Galley Common Riding for the Disabled, equipment for The Henry Street Childrens Home and numerous items for the George Elliot Hospital.
We now give a cheque immediately after the Final Tie, latterly this has gone to two local Sheltered Housing complexes to provide christmas dinners for the elderly. We still keep an eye on the local press to see if any good cause comes up and we consider any nomination we receive.
You can nominate any local good cause by writing to the Secretary giving details of the nomination.
You can also help by sponsoring the competition, you can advertise your company or anything you like, within the law, on our Semi-Finals and Final programme for as little as £20.00, contact the Secretary for further details.
Clubs who are registered with the Birmingham County Football Association are elligable to play in this competition, subject to invitation. The conferance dates are the second Sunday of the month commencing in September.
